Twitter does add the nofollow tag to links. This tag, when recognized by a search engine, prevents the leaking of PageRank. Google is the only major search engine I know of that pays attention to this tag.

The tweets still get indexed by the search engines and they can be a source of traffic in addition to helping build your brand and authority.

Thanks for the ebook…will take some serious time…read…reread…I am an old senior citizen past the year plus …80..in the twightlite years of life….so it is
stated by others…I find it a little hard too adjust to the
new LINGO…used in this MODERN AGE…will do my best to absorb what is in the book…if possibly i am
unable to cope with what I read..I will be asking for
